The climbing community is very friendly here in Austin. Grab your gear and head out to any of our local climbing spots on any sunny day and you are bound to meet other folks climbing who are happy to let you join in. There are several email lists and forums as well to help you get in touch with other climbers. Here is a list of groups that you may want to check out:

  • austin_climbers@yahoogroups.com - Climbers who gather at New Wall every Tuesday & Thursday afternoon. New Wall tends to be harder climbing (only a few 5.9s and all others 5.10 or harder) but the crowd is super friendly and would welcome you to top-rope any of their lines.
  • climbingbuddies@yahoogroups.com - Moderate climbers who get together after work and on the weekends once or twice per week.
  • onegreenbottle@yahoogroups.com - Moderate climbers who go out mostly on weekends.
  • www.erockonline.com - An active climbing forum, where you can meet other climbers, ask questions, sell gear, etc.

See our Google Map link at the left to help find our local climbing crags. You can also check out Austin Rock, by Sean O'Grady, for more information about each of these areas, but here is a list of our most popular local crags:
